Dinosaur National Monument This is not the quarry in Jensen, but the Monument outside of Dinosaur, Co. Saturday, it’s over the mountains to Fruita, Co to explore
Colorado National Monument traveling the
Upper Colorado River Scenic Byway, and end the day at
Dead Horse Point near Moab, UT. On Sunday, we head home via the San Rafael Swells and the Huntington Canyon Scenic Drive. Bob Requests that you utilize the 'Sign-Up button' above so he knows that you are coming and that he can create a 'Social List' for the participants. Friday, July 16th - We depart from three locations. 7:15 AM - North members depart from Harmons, 200 N Station Pkwy in Farmington 8:00 AM - We pickup SLC Members at Smith’s, 665 W 5300 S in Murray 8:45 AM - We pickup South Members at Harmon’s, 870 E 800 N in Orem You will need your National Park Pass for Dinosaur National Monument. We will stop at the quarry either going to or on the way back from Dinosaur, CO. We will be staying at the SureStay by Best Western, 1935 S 1500 E, Naples, UT. You can make your reservation by calling them at (435) 789-6625 or on the bestwestern.com, website. The AAA or Senior rate for 2 Queen Beds or 1 King Bed is $67.50 a night ($75.85 after taxes). Breakfast is included. These are early booking rates and may go up if you procrastinate reserving a room. Saturday, July 17th You will need your National Park Pass for Colorado National Monument. I would like to drive the entire loop but will depend on how bad the bicycle traffic is. The fee for Dead Horse Point State Park is $20 ($15 for seniors) or you can use your Utah State Annual Permit. We will be staying at the Comfort Suites Moab near Arches National Park, 400 North Main Street, Moab, UT. You can make your reservation by calling them at (435) 633-4759 or on the choicehotels.com website. The Everyday Refundable Rate for 1 King Bed or 2 Queen Beds is $174 ($196.05 after taxes) a night. These are early booking rates and may go up if you procrastinate reserving a room. Moab is a very popular tourist destination and motels hookup quickly. It’s always easier to cancel a reservation than pay a lot more to stay somewhere else or be unable to find a room because you tried to book at the last minute. Sunday, July 18th We will not be coming home on US-6 and going down Spanish Fork Canyon. We will continue our adventure on I-70 stopping at several San Rafael Swell view areas and then cutting across the desert to Huntington for the Huntington Canyon Scenic Drive. We will eat lunch and say our goodbye’s in Nephi. Should be home late afternoon. Hopefully COVID-19 Restrictions will be over. This has been planned as a COVID safe trip so I won’t have to cancel it with no planned group dinners at restaurants. Please bring your face coverings because they may be required at Visitor Centers and when we stop to socialize. |
