| Description: | Join Keith Fritz for a fall color run to Jackson, Wyoming Tuesday 30 September Depart 9:00am from the Flying J Gas Station at I-15 Exit 357 which is at 600 W 750 N in Willard UT (435) 723-1010. We will drive east ¾ mile to Route 89 through Cache Valley and stop in Garden City by Bear Lake and have lunch at the Hometown Drive In (world famous Over-The-Top Raspberry Shakes) and the best food in Garden City. Estimated time to Garden City from Willard is 1½ hours and covers 70 miles. We overnight all three nights at the Town Square Antler Motel & Inn in the center of Jackson. They are giving us a group rate of $125 less than normal overnight fee due to our previous history with them and for getting so many rooms booked. The charge for each room including taxes is $256.50 per night for a total of $769.50 per room for the three day stay. The Hotel address is 43 West Pearl Ave in Jackson. Tell the hotel that you are with "Corvette Club of Utah" The hotel is centrally located 1½ blocks from the town square where there are dozens of restaurants, art shops and souvenir traps. You should try to make your hotel reservations by July 1. 2025< Meals, Fuel, Photo-stopsRestroom Facilities will be planned during the cruising only. Breakfasts and Dinners are On your Own in Jackson allowing friends, large or small groups to choose where they will eat. Nice lunches will be planned at Signal Mountain Lodge on Tuesday, Jackson Lake Lodge on Thursday and Teton Village on Friday. Wednesday and Thursday, October 1 and 2 Jenny Lake Boat Tour for an early morning tour. At the conclusion of the boat tour, we begin the photo-shooting as a group with each car in a staged manner at the park’s most photogenic locations beginning with Jenny Lake Junction, + the Highway to Heaven Drive + Oxbow Bend Another Car Photo Shoot Snake River Overlook, and Colter Bay Visitor Center. The pictures will be taken by Keith Fritz as well as other CCU Volunteers and will be organized in an orderly manner. Sample Pictures of the Photoshoot locations are shown as follows Photo Locations (Oxbow Bend and Jenny Lake Junction Road Mountain View Turnout followed by a CCU Group Photo and then lunch at The Signal Mountain Lodge Driving through the park continues on Wednesday with planned stops at Jackson Lake Lodge, Oxbow Bend, Snake River Overlook and though the road to Cattleman’s Bridge Landing is a dirt road, it is a prime spot for privacy which has been used in many Hollywood Film locations including Dances With Wolves, Spencer’s Mountain, The Big Sky, The Wild North, The Mountain Men, Shane, Centennial, Rocky IV, the Outlaw Josey Wales and many others. We return to the Hotel in Jackson at around 6:00pm Friday Morning October 3 Teton Village and the Aerial Tramway from 9:00am until 2:30pm. The Aerial Tram glides skyward 4,139 vertical feet. The summit offers staggering 360-degree views of the Tetons, Jackson Hole Valley, and surrounding mountain ranges. The Aerial Tram holds 100 people and takes12 minutes to reach the summit. The Trams depart every 15 minutes. Tickets can be purchased on line and the price is reduced $7 for those who choose to do so. We will climb more than 4140 feet above the base and we can walk atop the mountain for an unparalleled view until you want to come down. A YouTube Video is available to preview at: Tram. We will leave the tram at 3:00pm and drive back to Salt Lake City through Wilson Wyoming via Wyoming Highway 26, then Idaho Falls and home via I-15. The initial ride after leaving the Teton National Park passes over the Teton Range through the Wilson Forest which passes from the East to West on forested roads up and down mountain switchbacks. Transit time from Idaho Falls to Salt Lake City takes about three (3) hours. The following day, Saturday, is the beginning of General Conference in Salt Lake City. For those who wish to continue exploring, they can drive up into Yellowstone Park for as long as they wish. |
