Tuesday September 9th
Meet at Smiths Grocery Store for SLC area CCU members. The plan is to depart from the Smiths@ 655 West 5300 South with Larry and Deb Van Wagoner conducting a drivers' meeting at 8:45 then leading the group to the Oakley Diner (OD) at 9:00 am.

Breakfast at the OD at 10 am to 11:15 followed by a brief drivers' meeting conducted by Jeff at 11:15 am, departing for Duchesne by 11:30 am. At this point Walt Penegar and Jeff Wetzel will take over the reins from Captains Larry and Deb. The planned route has relatively smooth winding roads with minimal traffic perfect for Corvette fun. We will travel thru Kamas to Wolf Creek Pass towards Duchesne with a planned bathroom and refueling stop at the Sinclair Station on Route 40. After refueling in Duchesne, we will depart for Vernal’s Dinosaur Inn & Suites via Route 40.

The Dinosaur Inn is located at 251 E Main Street in Vernal. A block of 20 rooms are reserved for CCU participants (~ $159/night), but every participant is expected to make their own reservations by contacting the Inn directly at (435) 789-2660. Adequate parking is available in front of the individual rooms.

The drive to Vernal will take us 3:00 hours +/- with the aim of arriving at the hotel early in the afternoon (2:30 pm) to allow people to sightsee and shop prior to dinner. Dinner will be at the Antica Forma Italian restaurant which is right next to the hotel (short walk).

The CCU dinner reservation is for 6 pm which will end the day’s scheduled events.

Wednesday September 10th
The Dinosaur Inn reservation includes an inhouse light breakfast. The cinnamon buns are very good.

If you need fuel to make the 140 mile trip to Evanston WY, please do so prior to the 8:45 drivers meeting.

Jeff will conduct a drivers' meeting @ 8:45 am Wednesday morning (9/10/15) departing the hotel at 9 am with the first planned stop at the Flaming Gorge Dam visitor center. The 40 miles long road to visitor center is loaded with smooth tight turns, switchbacks, beautiful sites; however, passing on this stretch of road is somewhat limited. We should arrive at the Flaming Gorge dam around 10:00 am. Restrooms are available at the visitor center.

10:45 am aim to depart the visitor center parking lot for more beautiful sights, and winding roads as we proceed towards Manila (40 miles) and Mountain View on our way to Evanston (49 miles). Note - No stops are planned for this section of travel as the towns are relatively small with limited parking at fuel stations.

Evanston will be our second planned stop for the day. Lunch reservations (approximately 1pm) are planned for the Iciban Japanese Steakhouse at 1932 Harrison Drive, stop number three. The restaurant offers entertaining hibachi style and sit down dining depending on your preference.

Refueling prior to departing Evanston is available. Route 80 is the planned route back to home with some of the group departing for the Heber area approximately 107 miles with the remainder going on to the SLC area.

The round trip is approximately 370 miles not including the SLC to Oakley diner and final leg from Rte. 80 to SLC.
